Structure of the tournament

The Youth Points Tournament (JPT) is a low-threshold tournament where youth fencers can fence against opponents of their own age and level.  The tournament is held 10 times a year, usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month, in cooperation with an association. Registration opens at 12:00h and closes at 12:30h. The tournament starts at 13:00h and lasts until 16:00h.

It is a tournament ideally suited for (novice) youth fencers. All weapons are welcome. Up to 12 years, fencing will be on a small weapon, then on a large weapon.  We aim to start fencing fully electric this season (there is still a transition for foil this year). In the manual (in dutch), you can read exactly what the rules are and what requirements your equipment must meet.

The tournament format is also ideal for novice referees: the tournament will be used to train referees. In addition, each participating association is asked to send one or more referees. Older youth are also asked - in addition to participating as fencers - to contribute as referees (incidentally, only if you have more than 2,000 points and you are coached through the referee training).

For 3 hours, there will be fencing. For every hit made and game won, points are given which earn various diplomas. For many, it is the ideal introduction to competitive sport and a nice stepping stone to KNAS tournaments.

A big tournament like the JPT can only exist with the efforts of volunteers. In addition, many parents and other volunteers are involved in the organisation, judging and material care. The cooperating association takes care of the layout of the hall, opens the tournament and hands out the diplomas and badges, emblems that may be worn on the fencing suit.
